Exciting new move for ELC – relocation to the Chesterford Research Park
We are pleased to announce that we are moving to a prestigious new home on 31 August 2012. ELC’s new headquarters will be on the impressive Chesterford Research Park, just five miles from our current location.
Alex Speed, ELC’s Finance & Operations Director, explains why ELC have chosen Chesterford Research Park as their new home:
"ELC provides a wide range of training and development opportunities for education professionals across the region and beyond, and the facilities at Chesterford Research Park will be ideal for us. The Nucleus building provides flexible access to high quality meeting, conference and catering facilities within a stone’s throw of our new building which is convenient both for us and our clients."
The Eastern Leadership Centre’s charitable mission is to ‘improve children’s and young people’s lives: training and developing all those who lead, teach and support them’. NPQH Applications: deadline extension and scholarships update
The application round for the 2012 redesigned NPQH is now open and the deadline has been extended to the 3rd of July 2012, with guaranteed National College scholarships for applications received before 15th May.
As this is the only application round this year, news of the deadline extension will be welcomed by senior leaders across the East of England.
Over recent weeks the National College have listened to feedback from school leaders telling them that they need more time to gather the evidence and support to make an application. In response, the College have decided to extend the current application round until the 3rd of July 2012.
As there are a limited number of places on NPQH, assessment of written applications will begin immediately after the original closing date of the 15th of May: and the National College are guaranteeing scholarships for anyone who submits an application by that date and successfully completes the assessment day in June. For that reason, it is recommended that applications are made as part of the first round, before the 15th of May. For applications received after the 15th of May the assessment day will be held in September 2012.
The new model NPQH provides robust, professional preparation for headship and, although now non-mandatory; is still regarded as the standard which all aspiring headteachers must accomplish if they wish to prove they have the knowledge, skills and tools to be effective in their role.
For information about the NPQH you can visit our NPQH page here. For information about the application process and the National College requirements, visit the National College website here.

NPQH announcement
The Government has recently announced that, from 2012, there will be no requirement for first-time headteachers to hold the NPQH qualification. This is in-line with current education policy to allow those who lead schools the freedom to make their own local decision.
