Developing and delivering leadership training in China
6th Sep 2006
The Eastern Leadership Centre (ELC) has expanded its operations by developing and delivering leadership training for schools leaders in Chonqing, China. A delegation of 20 headteachers and college lecturers from Chonqing recently spent two weeks at the Centre with a view to establishing a strategic partnership for the delivery of leadership training in the Far East.
The excellent report they took back to China has already resulted in many more enquiries, with two tutors from ELC visiting Guangdong recently to deliver 5 initial days of training. This will then be followed by a return visit to ELC by 25 delegates from the city, who are planning to spend a month receiving further training.
Similar links are being built in Shanghai and Beijing.
ELC has enjoyed an excellent reputation since it started life in 1997 as the East NPQH Centre. As its reputation has grown, so it has reached further afield. People apply for ELC programmes from all over the world, links have been established with Australia, and its reputation has become very widely regarded.
Director of the Eastern Leadership Centre, Sian Carr, said, ‘It is really gratifying that the expertise and commitment of the ELC is reaching a wider audience. We are leaders in our field – but we aren’t out to make huge profits. Our prime motivation is to ensure that leaders in education are equipped with the leadership skills they need. That’s what students need – skilled leaders to make sure they get the very best opportunities. Its great to know that we can offer this on a global scale.’
